Kuakata Beach

Patuakhali district is known as "Sagar Kanya" for Kuakata beach. Everyone thinks that the name Kuakata is derived locally from the word "Kuya". The Rakhine people in the area dig wells for drinking water after building their homes, and many believe that the naming took place from there. Sunrise and sunset can be seen from the same place which is rare in the world. Lots of tourists visit this beach every year. The beach is about 16 km long and 1 km wide. In addition to the green forest fence along the beach, there are rows and rows of coconut trees. Every year during the full moon, a big fair is held here. Lots of people come to this fair from far and wide.
